Although Rovers were the Cup holders, Queen's Park again took the field in the Final as favourites, but once more their long journey was doomed to end in failure.
Rovers' superiority this time soon became apparent, and after Forrest's early strike they were never in danger of losing the match. Twenty minutes from the end Brown, who had played throughout like a man inspired, added a second goal.
Gillespie in the Queen's Park goal was always busy, and. but for his smartness, the defeat would have been much greater. Arthur, on the other hand, only had recourse to handle the ball five times in the whole match, and not at all in the first half.
The match finally got under way after the over-anxious Queen's Park forwards had produced two false starts, and Rovers were the first to threaten when Lofthouse's shot skimmed the bar. They went ahead after sixteen minutes when Brown dodged past Arnott and sent in a good shot that was blocked. Forrest instantly hit a left-foot piledriver into the goal.
Very soon after Arthur had been forced to use his hands for the first time in the match, Rovers' Fecitt ran the ball down the left side and squared it for Brown, coming up in the nick of time, to make it 20.
